Day 43 skiing on new years

Late last night I went over to a shop called smart club to see if I could get a good deal on skis for sofie and me. And I did! I also got myself a pair of ice skates. First trip on skis for sofie today. She's a natural clearly, and we had lots of fun. We live right by the forests on one side and it's only 5 minutes go get to the ski tracks from our house. We also have a football field that is made into an ice skating rank in the winter. With lights and all. Wishing you all a great new year and thanks for 2010.

Day 42 infinity knitting

Since christmas is filled with space and time where nothing is going on, I decided to take up a hobby that I haven't had the patience to do in a while - knitting. I wanted to get another infinity scarf and finally decided to make one. It's the perfect companion to conversations or movie watching. I've only worked on it for one day and I'm about half way through already. I hope you are enjoying your holiday. What are you doing with the free time and space?

Day 41 romjul

Romjul is the norwegian word for the days between christmas and newyears. Schools are closed and most people get some days off. I know I do since the dance school is closed until week 3. I've spent the days trying to prepare a little for the project coming up. I've read through the script and tried to get some ideas for songs.

I've spent christmas with my family at their place in kristiansand. As always it was a very great time, and now it feels even greater to be back home. Home sweet home. How was your holiday?

Day 40 merry christmas to you

Hope you all have a wonderful day today. We have a beatuiful christmas morning in kristiansand. The world outside is frosty and covered in white, and the sun is rising with Orange and red skies. The kids have their stockings and we're watching cartoons on tv. Only downside is that people are getting sick around the house. Hoping that everyone makes it through the day without getting too ill.

Day 38 spinning spiral

I thought I'd share yet another song. It's funny how I'm remembering all of these, and adding verses and stuff. I'm going to try to see if I remember how to play them when I get to "my" piano over christmas. (My dad har asked me if I want the piano, and I'm just hoping he is in fact serious! I really want a piano in my house)

the burden

when I saw you last night it was like my heart stopped for a little while
and I'm sure I blushed and I didn't know what to say or do
and when you walked out the door I was confused and I nearly cried
and I think what hit me was the deadness in your eyes

But I can't carry the burden of a broken life
but when I saw your lifeless eyes oh I'd like to try
If I can carry some of the pain that you carry around
oh heaven help me if I try

when I look in your eyes it's like a stream of tears flow from your eyes
when you open your mouth to speak a sharp knife pierces through my heart
and when I take your hand you turn away from me and walk away
you say leave me alone and you are left there all alone

But I can't carry the burden of your broken life
but when I look into your eyes oh I'd like to try
if I can carry some of the pain that you carry around
og heaven help me, you woun't let me try

I know the one who carried the burden of all mankind
and when he saw your lifeless eyes he had already tried
to make you realize he carried all of the stuff you carry around
oh heaven help you, see it to

Oh, I went to Pia again yesterday. My back is almost fine again, and we did a fantastic stretch. I've become so flexible that I almost don't believe it. When I'm there I have my legs up to my sholders! It's so cool! There is still some resistance left, but I'm making progress for sure!

day 37 new version of me

Anyone remember the title song for felicity? "i need a new version of me" it's a cool song.

Well, it's actually "New version of you"

The audition yday went well, as did the meeting with the director of the theatre at kg. I think this will be a fun project and I can't wait to get started. I'm getting the screenplay later today so I can start reading tonight! Fun fun!

Finally I have to show you one of my favourite places in Oslo. This place I discovered when I was about 18 and my best friend lived in Oslo and I didn't. Bislet bad. It's a swimming pool that was built in 1920 and was for a period considered a "gay" pool. It had a bad reputation, but I went there anyways and have always loved it. It's now renovated but they have kept it the way it was built. It's such a warm and old fashioned bath. When I come there I relax completely. Consider Bislet bad recommended!

Day 37 Audition again

2010 is almost over. With it all the challenges of last year, all the dance shows and all the projects. 2011 is almost here and with it promises of new challenges and new jobs, new trips and new projects. One of the projects I'm taking on this year is to choreograph for kg teateret again. I worked for the theater in 2008 and did a huge production with almost 200 on stage! I'm going to the school today to have the dance autition. I'm hoping for some fantastic dancers to show up, and hopefully some of the dancers I worked with last time I was there.

dancers from last years production
It seems like 2011 is going to start of a busy year with kg-teateret, starting up a dance compagny, and producing the show for the dance compagny at vinderen dance studio in april. Hopefully all this work will also provide some extra money for my new york trip next summer. I'm definately going to need this inspiration trip after a busy spring of 2011.

I'm sure you all are wondering about my challenge? Well I got a little set back when I fell and hurt my back 2 weeks ago. The hip is back in a locked position and We have to get it back in place to continue with the heavy streching. I've gone to Pia every week and I feels like it's getting there. Hopefylle we're about back to where we were tomorrow. I'm working on my exercises though, same same. I'll try to do some progress pictures over christmas.

Have a busy monday <3

day 36 the operahouse

Yesterday we did something that seems to become some sort of christmas tradition. Going to the Oslo operahouse and see the nutcracker ballet. I took sofie for the first time and I guess that is some kind of milestone to reach. We enjoyed a girls day out with ballet and dinner.

Today was a slow Sunday with coffe, candles and cartoons. And fun playtime out in the snow! Now we're getting ready for the in laws' christmas party.

What have you done today?

day 35 backyard art

Last weekend I decided to make some ice art with sofie. Something fun to do on a Sunday and the result came out quite nice. We found different kinds of jars and pots to fill with water. Always adding a smaller inside of each one to make a hole and in the smallest one I put a small rock with a rope tied around it. We added water and different mixes of food coloring to make different colors.

Frøken Dianas Salonger

Yesterday I took time to go to Grunerløkka and do the last of my christmas shopping this year. I only had a few gifts to look for so I took my time. I had a plan to go to this faboulous vintage shop called Frøken Dianas Salonger The small shop is packed with treasures, and at a reasonable price too. This is where I got my red knit a while back (I wrote about it here)

If you are still looking for some special gifts this is the place to go! The girl who work there even took the time no neatly wrap each gift for me. Just don't make the same misstake I did. I went there early, but it doesn't open untill 12.

Day 34 bloody mary

Hey check out zacharias' new song Bloody mary at urort. This is the band that I'm hoping to do a project together with sometime next year. I love the sound of the band, and I think they manage to make some really interesting music!

If you want to know more check out zacharias at myspace. Hoping for a concert soon...near me!

Day 33 Alone

Alone
Music/lyrics: Tonje Skarpsno

Because of your grace that abounds to me
I could get up today
Knowing so well that without your help
I would be far away
I know that I’m guilty , I feel so ashamed
How could I hurt you all over again
When I promised so many times

I feel so alone

When I woke up today I was so afraid
That you would not be there
That my sin had driven you so far away
That you no longer cared
But before I woke up, you were already there
 Waiting for one simple word
Your forgiveness was mine even before I tried to make things right

But I feel so alone

Is it true that you’re always there for me
Nomatter where I am
Can it really be true that you’ve said you’ll never ever let go of my hand?
I’ll try to be better and stronger in this,
I don’t know how far I can go
If I hurt you again will you take your things and go?

But I am not alone
No I am not alone!

Here's the song as promised. This is one of my favourites actually. I changed it a little, and put in a chorous line and the last verse. It never seemed quite finished to me before, and now it does. How does it make you feel?

song of songs

The song of songs
music/lyrics: Tonje Skarpsno

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth
For your love is more delightful than wine
Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfume
Take me away with you

Oh hurry now, hurry now
Take me away with you my love
Hurry now, take me away

How beautiful you are my darling
Your eyes behind your veil are doves
By the water streams, washed in milk, mounted like jewels
Take me away with you

Woun't you hurry now, hurry now
Take me away with you my love
Hurry now, take me away

Many waters can not quench love, rivers can not wash it away
It burns like a blazing fire
But my own vineyard is mine to give, I'll give you my love
Just take me away with you

Oh hurry now, hurry now
Take me away with you my love
Hurry now, take me away

Recently some of the songs I wrote when I was between 19-22 are coming back to me. This song has only been performed once. It was my exam piece when I was graduating from dance school I played the piano and sang this song. Pretty funny that they let me pull that of when I look back, but it seemed a great ide at the time. Most of my songs have never seen the light of day. I don't know why I'm starting to sing them now, but I am. So I thought I'd share them with you. Well only half since you really can't get a good impression of where I'm at without actually hearing it, but it's a start.

Have you got any songs hidden away? I'm coming forwars with another one tomorrow.

Oh I got most my christmas shopping done today, but it got a bit more expensive than I had planned. Oh well, at least someone will be happy.

Day 32 homemade

Some gifts are best homemade. I can't exactly show the content of these beautiful red and green wrapped gifts quite yet. But it's from the garden, and goes with cheese. Now you can take a guess?

These are for some good friends, some of the caretakers at the day care where Sofie and Isak spend their days, and some to our neighbours. Little gifts packed with love.

A few homemade cards are made as well. I'm not posting any cards this year, but these cards will be delivered together with the gifts that goes with them.

Now I need to get in the shower and get going. I'm driving out to "ski" today to do some christmas shopping. Later <3

day 31 to say goodbye

Saturday was fun. First of all we did our christmas show at hauketo dance studio, and then I went to se a flamenco performance at den gode kafe. Two of my coworkers were the ones dancing and they did a fantastic job. It was pretty funny though to see something that I already knew. One of the dancers were stronger technically, but didn't give much expression wise. The other dancer however I was drawn to from the first minute and all through because of how well she uses all emotions in her facial expression and body language. She told a whole story, and all the movements just added to that.

Then it was time to say goodbye. Not one of my favourite things to do to be honest, but a thing I've gotten quite good at from doing it so often. Camilla is leaving. She is going to marry and move to the other side of Norway to settle down with her man. She will be greatly missed by everyone and me.

So how are everybody coming along with the christmas shopping? I've some homemade gifts so far, and gotten nothing else. Coming up this week though is some serious shopping!

day 29 & 30 christmas time

Finally I feel like I can lower my shoulders and relax. We did our final show this year at hauketo dance studio yesterday. I'm done teaching this semester, and all that remains is some office work and one audition at kg. Yeah, I'm going to do a project at kg again! Really looking forwards to it!

Well my house is almost christmas ready. I bought a fantastic tree this year. It lives! Meaning I can take it out after christmas, and it will live on until next year. Maybe even bring it back inside next year.

All that's left is baking, christmas shopping and relaxing. I even want to try to get an appointment to get my hair done. Any suggestions as to what I should do? I really want to do something with the color I think.

I'll even get to take some classes. It turns out siv is teaching all through christmas! Lucky me:D

day 28 sorry, sore, sad, super

I just came home from class and as usually it was amazing. I feel like I learn something new every day, and that some new.insight takes place in my body. I'm not sure if you can see it yet, but i think you will in a while. The story today was a question and a cry....for me this sentence stuck with me...I don't want to.think about you if I can't hold you. Well, something like that. I guess I'm thankful for having experienced somethings so painful that I can bring back that emotion when I need it. What perfect use for a broken heart!

The scenery on my way downtown today was magical. Wishing I.had thought to take a picture....there was smoky mist floating on the frozen water and pink clouds. Can you see it? I captured my way home though it wasn't as amazing.

day 27 happiness

I got to take class with siv today! I really felt like my body was working against me today, but I still loved it! There is this girl that I can't help it but watch her. She may not be the strongest technical dancer in the world, but frankly it doesn't matter. Her movements flow so naturally. It looks so effortless and natural. The way she experiments within the movements opens.my eyes every time.

Now it's no ordinary family....anyone else watching?

This evening I taught my last classes this semester. Only work.left this year is the show on Saturday and some office work.

Oh...video didn't work:(

Oh...big news: I'm working at kg again this spring! The project sounds amazing so far, and the kids there are super talented. More details about kg teateret later on.

Back to sewing then :D
