it's december!!!

The christmas song

Let the magic begin!
I love waking up every day in december. My daughter comes running into our bedroom filled with anticipation and wants to open the calender gift of the day. Candles lit for breakfast every morning. Ginger cookies, snow, you name it. This year the christmas atmosphere is already around since there is white crisp snow all around!

Finnally all the christmas shows we're doing these days really gets me in the spirit!

I haven't even thought about getting any christmas gifts or making cards yet, but I will have some time for that after all the shows are done.

Here's a picture of the kids calender this year:

(The reason it's looking a bit crowded is because it's two gifts on each number)

Day 20 rehersal in domkirken

Todays rehersal went great and we are ready to dance at the worlds aids day service tomorrow night.

a cup of coffee....

...and waffels with sour cream and jam!

Have you ever seen  anything like it? This must be the most original neckless I've ever seen! Birthday gift from my siss and bro! A new favourite for sure.

Day 19 Audition

Feeling good

Today was the audition for the dance company I'm starting up! Fantastic performances from all the girls who showed up today!

I was on the train all day and went straight to work teaching 4 classses and then host the audition. Somehow it feels like I've been going for 24 hrs or something. I havent done my exercises today. Mostly cuz my back is not in place from hurting myself last week. I need to get it fixed by Pia (my trainer/manuel therapist) Before I hurt it even more. I have an appointment on wednesday so I'll be good!

See you all tomorrow <3

time to think

Sitting on the train letting the world pass me by outside, always makes my mind travel. I visit places and people I don't se much in my life. I visit memories of the past and the dreams of the future. It's one of the places that I find space to think. Of much and nothing at all. The scenerey is so calm right now. It calms me. It brings music to mind. Lyrics and dance moves.

What song comes to mind?

Have you tried this one?

Here is something to try if you are stressed out about the week to come. Something for me maybe? Since the next two weeks will be the busiest 2 weeks on this side of christmas. On the other hand I love busy weeks packed with dance, training and shows so I'm kinda looking forwards to it!

what are you doing this week?

Day 18 come here

Rude boy

I made my dad take a picture of me earlier when I was stretching. I wanted to see how high I could hold my leg in the air now a little more than 2 weeks into the challenge. I can really see a difference. My leg used to "fall" down to about 90 degrees (straight out) when I let go of it. Now I can hold it higher and with less effort.

This obviously isn't a bragging picture quite yet, but if the progress keeps up do now see some hope of achieving my goal! I'm using a completely different set of muscled in this picture that what I used to in this particular lift situation. Super fun to see some progress!!!!

How about your challenge??

Relax again

Balasana - Peace and quiet
Since I'm traveling right now, I'm on my mini laptop. For some reason I can't upload more than one picture pr post from here? Yeah...fun....I just loved these pictures so I'll keep posting anyway.

Day 17 take it easy

Weekend at my parents means great food and lots of rest.
Here are some positions you can try while you wait for the weekend to end:

Day 16 -my love

My Love- Justin Timberlake

I'm about to pack up and leave for Kristiansand in an hour. I'm taking my amazing kids with me, and it should be a relaxing weekend at my parents. It's Isak's 2 yrs birthday today. I'll never forget the first time I held him and he was brand new in this world. My kids are my love for real!

Still waiting for my phone to arrive....here are some pictures to ease the wait:

Day 15 -to me

Happy bithday-

Today I got breakfast in bed and a new phone!!! Well, I don't have it yet, cuz it's the brand new htc hd, and it's preordered. It's supposed to come to the store on the 27'th, so hopefully I'll have it sometime next week! I'm so happy! This also means better picture/video possibilities and blogging from the htc!

I went to get stretched again yday morning, and like the last time I was there there's much progress! I have my knee at my shoulder almost, so I'm getting there!

I'll try to take some new pictures later at the studio!

Here are some from mondays open day classes:

Day 14 rise and shine

Good morning!
Today is going to be awesome!
I start off with an appointment at Aktisfys at 08.00.
Then Ballett at 09.00
Meeting at 11.00
Teaching 4 classes tonight
If there is time in between I'm gonna keep sewing!

Thinking about tomorrow and looking forwards to my bday I'll show you some pictures from the party on saturday:

Day 13 my cute knit

First of all as promised:

I do realize that it might remind you of an 80's christmas sweather, but hey, the 80's back right? It's made of lamb wool so it's nice and warm, and a perfect red color that suits me. Worn with some skinny black jeans, black body, and cute boots.

My day today was busy. I went to morning class, but I only did the barr today cuz my muscles were needing a slower day. Then I did some work at the office. I came home and made 2 more "china-pants", finished mixing the music for the piece I'm teaching tomorrow, and wrapped all the calender-gifts for Sofie.

I've got more pictures coming up tomorrow so stay posted!

Oh, and I'm becoming more flexible. I can really start to notice the difference now! Before and after pictures are needed!!

Day 11/12 -Stretching

So sorry I'm slacking on my blog these days but life is crazy busy right now. I really need a new phone of some android sort so I can blog on the go.

I've been to ballett class today and been in the workout room (at proda) to do my exercises and stretches. And I stretched with Maria in the studio as well:D

I went by a really cute vintage store at Grunerløkka on my way home " frøken Dianas salonger" and found exactly what I was looking for a vintage red knit sweather! It's very cute and I promise I will post pictures later (read tomorrow)

Now I have to get ready for work and "sit and wach" classes tonight. (ha...directly translated... it's where the parents/friend can come to class and wach...like open day:D)

And after that I'm going to a concert to hear my bf Sailorine play!

gotta run!

Day 9 - date

So glad that I finally got to see my trainer today at Aktifys. She could tell i had been working, and the restistance in my hip was decreased since I last saw her. She gave me a fantastic stretch, and I'm ready to keep working! It's funny how little the pain of stretching bothers me now. I have memories of going to Links when I was in dance school and how I cried when Jan was stretching my hamstrings. Now it's not so painfull to me. I've gotten used to it I guess.

Well, what a wonderful way to step into the weekend, and a fun one. Since we're celebrating both mine and Isaks (2yrs) birthday.

Day 8 - no milk today

We were running low, so I had to make a stop on my way home to get some more. I really woun't risk having no milk today or tomorrow. Here's what can happen if you run out:

No milk 1

and this:
No milk 2

I just love these commercials. I must have seen them a hundred times, but I still laugh. After doing a little research (read googeling) It seems a lot of people recomend drinking milk after working out. One article on the subject is here and another one here. I thought that was pretty interessting, I don't really drink much milk anymore, but I'm about to start. In fact I'm gonna have some right now!

No Milk Today by Hermits Herman's

No milk today, my love has gone away
The bottle stands forlorn, a symbol of the dawn
No milk today, it seems a common sight
But people passing by don't know the reason why

How could they know just what this message means
The end of my hopes, the end of all my dreams
How could they know the palace there had been
Behind the door where my love reigned as queen

No milk today, it wasn't always so
The company was gay, we'd turn night into day

But all that's left is a place dark and lonely
A terraced house in a mean street back of town
Becomes a shrine when I think of you only
Just two up two down

No milk today, it wasn't always so
The company was gay, we'd turn night into day
As music played the faster did we dance
We felt it both at once, the start of our romance

Day 7 -how does it feel?

Dance is emotion. This picture is full of it. Can you see it? Passion, love, grief, sorrow, longing. This is what I ultimately long for in dance. To portrait emotion. Without it dance is boring, even with legs like skyskrapers.

That's a little perspectiv today when I'm feeling a bit sick and tired. I barely made it through my 4 classes at the studio and now my voice is comepletely gone.....my leg is as low as usual but my 4 year old has hers up to the ears! I seriously need to take a picture of her legs! That's inspiration right there!

Looking forwards to my stretch appointment on friday!

Day 6- dancing in Oslo domkirke

I just got off the phone with people from the organization Aksept and have now been hired to do a dance show at the world aids day and the show in Oslo  domkirke! It's on desember 1'st and there is really little time to rehers since it's in beetween our christmas-shows. So the plan is to hire a couple of proffesionals, and make a simple choreography that can be done on different timings. I need as many youth as possible, so I'm bringing all my Hauketo-girls and some from Vinderen. Also people coming to mu audition two days before will have the oportunity to join! (They wanted as many as possible!)  The song we're dancing to is an instrumental version of  I'm feeling good. There are several other oportunities to do jobs for these people later on, so I'm excited to make this connection and to do this job!

And I have done my workouts and stretches at home today...in the kitchen, with mpeole staring at me from outside! :D I got a new apponitment with my trainer on friday so I need to do the work!!!

Day 5- dance will never die

First some inspiration!

I'm a bit bummed today, cuz I had an appointment with my trainer for new exercises and to be stretched today. My daughter is home sick with the chickenpox and they would not let me take her with me there....wich means I could not go.

This is gonna be a hard week to keep up the work since there are no ballett classes and I'm "stuck" at home, but I will do my best to do my stretches and stuff at home!

I think the picture I posted is awesome! When I get my legs up there I want to keep working them so that I can do a pose like that when I get old!!! LOVE IT!!

Day 4

I've made a video to show the exercises I've been given to start off with. They are very simple and I've done them many times before. But I've never done them the right way. It's not easy to see the details in this video, so I'll try to make one that shows the difference later.

Here are my starting off exercises:

Enjoy!

Day 3 -it's on!

Well the challenge is definately on and I have no idea if I will succeed or fail.  I'm giving myself a day of muscle rest today after an intense week so no exercises today. I did, however teach today, and I manageded to make the video I promised of the starting point.

Here you go:

Keep up the good work TK and Maria! Anyone else joining in on the challenge????

Day 2 - it's friday

I don't mean it as an excuse, but I use it as one anyways. It just feels like friday and I'm glad it's a weekend coming up. I've gone to 4 ballett classes this week, and taught 11 classes so I guess it's a normal thing to feel a bit tired at the end of such a week. I dropped out of ballett before the end today cuz I felt like I was going to faint or something.......real bummer. BUT I went into the extra studio and did all my exercises and stretches!

One thing I will say though is that ballett seems so much easier for me just these past two days. It's like I'm breathing better, and working with my body instead of against it. And I realize that I'm starting to use some musles that I havent used for a while. Thinking that I must be doing something right?

I was planning on making a video of the starting point today, but I had to go and see my mum at the hospital. I really did't have any time to do it today , but I promise I will do it tomorrow!

This is just another picture to keep the goal in mind as I go into the weekend. This might be me in 99 days?

Day 1 -the inspiration

I realize I wasnt spesific enough as far as my goal goes. I want my legs up to my ears. Let me show you some pictures of what I want to look like:

Got the general idea?

Well, I'm nowhere near this at the moment, and I don't know if I really believe I can get there in 100 days. What do you think??

So you want to know what I have done today. 1'st day of the challenge.
I went to proda to do ballett class in the morning. I got there 45 min before class and did my exercises and stretches before class!!!  Ballett was fantastic! The pianist is absolutely wonderful playing "my favourite things" as we were doing our jete's.

I know you all want to see my dreadful legs. I promise to make a video of developes and stretches tomorrow!

Now it's nighty night before ballett class in the morning <3

my challenge-your challenge

This is a bit scary but i'm giving myself a public challenge.

I have been under the wrong impression for a long time it seems, but I recently found out that I might be wrong.

I'm talking about high legs. As a dancer high legs is a good thing. My legs are ok, but definately not high enough. I've thought that I had reached my limit as far as hight goes, and therefore not really worked on my legs. If it's true that it's just because I've lifted wrong, and need to stretch, I'm thinking it's worth a shot.

My challenge is this:
I will work on my legs, doing the exercises given by my trainer and stretch for 100 days.
I will try to document as much as possible with pictures and words of the progress.

Why do I do it:
I want to kill the whole myth that i'm too old or it's too late.
I want to inspire others who may not think they can do things, that most things are possible!
I want to have killer legs for my next NY trip!

Your challenge:
Is to find a goal of your own and work on it for 100 days.
Share with me, and your readers the progress.

There will be a draw for a nice price after 100 days! To participate, make a comment under this post and start your 100 day challenge!!!

more mum made

Here are the pictures I promised of the pants I made for the kids this weekend. Sofie's pants are made from an old curtain. Grey linnen with white embroidered flowers. The cut out hearts are from old jeans. Isaks pants are made from left over fabric I got for 70 nok at panduro. The cut out Hiawata is from an old pillow cover I found at a thrift shop a while back.
